The city of Foz do Iguaçu is home to over 12 000 immigrants, and is considered the second largest Arab community in Brazil. The mosque is inspired by the second most sacred of Islam center architecture, the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem – the first is in Mecca. The magnificent temple is a symbol of religion and can be seen from various points, due to its large towers 15 meters high and its unique architecture in the city. Internally the mosque is decorated with various religious drawings, abstract figures and tables showing some verses of the Quran (Muslim Holy Book).
